Oh my God! I've signed up to do my first marathon! Why .... well after Jacks diagnosis of Coeliac and the challenges he has overcome in the last year we wanted to raise money for this worthwhile charity, which has offered great support to us and also funds research into the condition. Jack turned 8 in October and is growing fast!! the coeliac had caused a bone delay of 3 years, but now we have the diet under control it's all systems go. What is Coeliac Disease? coeliac disease is caused by intolerance to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye, some coeliacs also react to oats. Coeliac Disease is a life-long condition, which affects the whole body. Gluten damages the gut, which prevents normal digestion and absorption of food, this can lead to amongst other things anaemia, poor bone health and weight loss. If left untreated the disease can lead to far more serious conditons such as osteoporosis, infertility and gut cancer. Bill and Jack are offering support with the training our first "family" training session, the boys on bikes and me running!! we had a few comments of "could you not afford another bike" but managed to do 8 miles. I'll be running during the week on my own, with Davie (from Bowfield) or anyone else who fancies a run or a cycle!!!! We will keep you updated of our progress right up to the big day. March 2008 - now up to 14 miles only 12 more to do!! Jack can cycle 14 miles on his bike too!! got lots of sore bits!! but looking forward to a huge glass of wine when I finish the race!! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Coeliac UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
