My progress towards the Sussex Marathon was going swimmingly, I had run the Brighton ½ Marathon and had run up to 15 miles a couple of weeks ago, was running around 35/40 miles a week and was planning to put in a 20 miler and the Fleet ½ Marathon before the ‘big one’.

Around 2 weeks ago during a run along the Basingstoke Canal the hamstring in my left leg started to get tight and sore but as I was around 6 miles from where I started I had no option but to keep going to get back. This has resulted in my not being able to run for the last couple of weeks and despite 2 visits to an excellent physiotherapist in Fleet and another scheduled for tomorrow, I still cannot run.

Therefore I have deferred my entry for Sussex to next year – however I feel that I have a ‘contract’ with those who have sponsored me, one that I am not going to break. I have entered the Windermere Marathon in Cumbria towards the end of May to fulfil my side of the bargain and felt I owed it to you guys to let you know.

Sorry for going on a bit - but that’s me.

Previously...

You would think I had more sense - but then again if you know me perhaps you will already have the answer....

Hip replacement behind me and all the checks for the heart attack that never was (thank heavens - there's no justice) passed OK - time to lose some weight and get a bit fitter. But running for the sake of it - well what's the point?? So a reason - Everest climbing - nah - trekking in the Arctic - nah - well its obvious another Marathon - London full - Cape Town too pricey - New York - an indulgence..... I know the SUSSEX Marathon in April 2011 - if you feel inclined to donate to a good cause and a bit of suffering for me - that's a good reason if ever I saw one....

Feel my pain, support me (and vent your spleen on the major issues of the day) here - http://justanotherpairoftrainers.wordpress.com/ - don't hold back - I enjoy the banter....

So please dig deep and donate now.
