Firstly, thanks for visiting our fundraising page!  As you can see we have a way to go to reach our target and are keen to start the funds rolling in ASAP- it gives us motivation to get back down the gym for starters!  Secondly, and more importantly, it means that the charities we have chosen to help will see some real benefits and they can then put the money to work where it is needed most.

'We' are a small, elite group of Britain's best- 10 personnel from the RAF and the Army stationed in Kabul Afghanistan International Airport (KAIA).  Our challenge is no mean feat- travel the distance back to Brize Norton from KAIA and then add on the distance back to our homes, and you have a whopping target of 8094km….. but we only have the month of June to complete it.

So why are we doing this???

Well there are several reasons:

Firstly, one of the team lost his father to cancer very recently (May 08), so we feel that we would like to help cancer sufferers. We have chosen the charity “Julia’s House”, a hospice for terminally ill children.

Secondly, “Help For Heroes” as we wish to help this charity towards their goal of establishing a rehabilitation pool at Headley Court- this is a charity that any of us or our friends in the Forces may have to use in the future and we feel it is important to support this charity.

Thirdly, we want to help put something back into Afghanistan, to work towards establishing this country for future generations.  We have chosen to do this by donating money to help the orphans of Kabul. Money raised will go towards the life basics that we take for granted like Clothing, shelter, sanitation and education etc.
