The Long Way Up 2009 · 14 January 2009

We focus our time, money and energy in 3 key areas; improving cancer prevention and early detection, supporting excellent cancer treatment locally, and supporting people living with and beyond cancer.

Story

This fundraising page is all about a team of seven brave (or stupid!) friends who are preparing to cycle the 1017.8 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 10 days to raise money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Relief fund based at the Royal Shresbury Hospital and the Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.

From deciding to do the trip in October 2008 to the start line on August 31st 2009, the seven of us will be covering thousands of miles together expelling blood sweat and occasionally tears as we train our bodies and minds to cope with the journey that lies ahead.

The nominated charites provide outstanding treatment, care and support to hundreds of patients (and there familes) who are diagnosed with Cancer every year.  To continue the care they provide and to improve facilaties for the future takes events like our bike ride to raise awareness and money.  Please remember that many hospices such as the Primrose Hospice rely on donations alone to provide the vital services they provide!!

Visit our website www.thelongwayup.net for more info on the team, the charities, the route we will be taking and for updates on the training we have done so far!!

By the time the team set off on our trip we will have put 10 months of relentless training into preparing for the physical challenge we will face!!  Now we need your help!! So please sponsor us now!! Thank You!!
