The Light Fund is a fund-raising body set up in 2004 by like-minded members of the licensing industry in the UK to raise funds for specific charitable projects aimed at men, women and children. Details of the causes supported and more information on the Light Fund can be found at www.lightfund.org

Story

Following the success of the 3 man bike ride to The Licensing Awards Dinner in 2010, we are attending this year’s festivities, but arriving the hard way (much harder).

Although it seemed like a great idea at the time, in the cold sober light of day, it has dawned on us that walking to the dinner goes down as one of the more stupid of our ideas.

The 3 of us, Martin Lowe, Richard Radford and Dean Greasley will set out from the office in North Nottinghamshire, on Thursday 6 September to cover the 160+ miles with a view to arrive at The Grosvenor, on Park Lane, London, in time for the dinner on the following Tuesday.

As is usually the case, all the funds raised will go to the industry charity The Lightfund, and obviously we will be hoping for sponsorship, but here’s the twist. Rather than giving a donation, why not get yourselves sponsored (suggested £50+) and come and join us for a mile, an hour, a half day, all day, or for the more adventurous, the whole route.

Please please dig deep, as it might help the blisters and chaffing to disappear quicker.
