Story

Following the success of The Mannequin Challenge in Harrogate, North Yorkshire it has returned with fresh faces: The Mannequin Challenge Coventry. Ben Black will be swapping a week in University for a week in the glass shop front in The West Orchards Shopping Centre, Coventry. And each day completing various challenges and tasks. Every day a different friend will be joining him for one day and night, completing the challenges of the day. Becoming live mannequins for 24 hrs a day from Saturday the 28th of April to Saturday the 5th of May.

Ben, who is a student at Coventry University, will be working, sleeping and eating in full display to the public and will have to fulfil set challenges throughout the week and members of the public will be invited to take an active role in the fundraiser.

Why? What for? To raise funds for the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Myton Hospice Nurse Appeal. The appeal is helping train and employ nurses for the hospices in Coventry & Warwick. The work the nurses do for families and patients is inspirational and deserves recognition and support.

Myton hospices have a vision: to ensure patients and families are informed about their care and that they are included in every decision; to ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect and to minimise pain and emotional distress. With your support and help our fundraiser hopes to aid in the nurses' abilities to acheive this day in and day out.

The Nurse Appeal aims to raise funds to pay for more nursing hours and to therefore care for more patiens and their families. Every £1 raised will contribute to making a difference, for example...

£21 will pay for one extra hour of nursing

£30,000 will pay to recruit, train and support one nurse for a year.

It's hard to imagine what just one hour of specialist nursing care can mean to someone facing the end of their life - but Myton know how important it is because the patients and their families tell them. At Myton they are proud to be able to make a difference to the lives of so many people, and we hope that with your charitable donations you will help support them.

By donating through JustGiving you are not only supporting Ben and Co in the glass window but also helping families out at a very hard time and your donations will make such a difference. And if you're a tax payer JustGiving will make sure 25% in "Giftaid" and a 3% supplement are added to your donation. You will also be able to watch Ben and Nate live on webcam all day and night to see their progress, the link for the stream will be on this page shortly.
