Story

Hi guys,

So Clint and I have decided to take part in this year's Grim Challenge on December 3rd. GRIM is an 8 mile run held over the Army’s vehicle testing tracks in Aldershot so expect it to be interesting, especially as it involves mud and water!

It was a tough decision picking a charity but we think Medical Detection Dogs are pretty special and well deserving. Dogs are renowned for their sense of smell. For centuries doctors have known diseases have characteristic odours which dogs may be able to detect. Cancer cells release small amounts of volatile substances. Cancer Detection Dogs are being trained to detect these volatiles and we hope that this work and research will enable scientists to develop an early cancer screening system.

Medical Alert Dogs are trained to assist individuals who manage complex medical conditions on a day to day basis. The dogs are taught to identify the odour changes that are associated with certain medical events. For example for someone living with diabetes, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) or the avoidance of it can be a daily problem.

Please support this very worthy cause and we'll do our best to complete this gruelling mud fest!!

Lots of love,

Lisa & Clint

P.S. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
