WPSI, founded by Belinda Wright, supports wildlife conservation issues throughout India, campaigning for and protecting endangered species, notably the tiger, by investigating poaching networks and the escalating illegal wildlife trade. It encourages law enforcement and prosecution by government authorities, and gives material support, training and information to India's remaining tiger reserves.

Story

The tiger is my favourite animal in the world.

This year I was fortunate enough to spend 2 months working at the Kipling Camp, Kanha National Park in Madya Pradesh. These were the most magical times of my life, during which I had the immense privilege of seeing the "Prince of the Jungle", a real life tiger. I have attached three pictures of my favourite sightings.

However, each sighting was twinged with sadness at the prospect of the world's greatest cat becoming extinct in the near future. $12bn is made a year through the trade in illegal wildlife products.

To quote a very wise man that I came across in the jungle (Mr Basu Roy), "the poachers' jobs and the conservationists' jobs are the same...only one looks to sell the animal once, whereas the other is aiming to sell it again and again and again." This philosophy needs to be embedded in Indian thinking, and WPSI, with your help, can ensure that the conservationists and the rest of India work together in preserving this greatest of all animals.

On September 18th, I am attempting to climb Mt Kilimanjaro to raise money for this cause and would be extremely grateful for any contributions you are able to make.

The tiger is my favourite animal in the world. I really hope it can be my childrens' too.

Anyone interested in more info or possible continued donations:

http://www.wpsi-india.org/wpsi/index.php

http://www.wpsi-india.org/donations/index.php
