Story

*We did it! Target smashed and Marathon completed! Thanks everyone!*

Welcome. You're probably wondering why I have a JustGiving page, a fundraising target and a marathon to run.

Well, the answer is simple: Inspiration.

My girlfriend, Veronika, lost her left leg in December 2010 after being hit by a truck at Marble Arch. So I figure if she can learn how to walk again in the eight months since leaving hospital (she got out in April 2011), then I can run 26 and something miles.

In a sense, Veronika was actually pretty lucky - there's people who have lost a lot more. Since becoming more aware of the amputee and limbless community, I've found that there are many people doing a lot more than I am with my four limbs, and as a result I see the marathon as a personal challenge as much as an opportunity to raise money for a charity close to my heart.

So with a challenge ahead of me and inspiration behind me, I want to get out there and help by supporting the Limbless Association. That will only get me so far though, to carry me the rest of the way I need your motivation.

So dig deep and donate please. We've had great moral support from the industry both Veronika and I work in, as well as the cycling community. Now let's turn that into something that can help other people. Your details are safe with JustGiving - no spam - and they'll reclaim Gift Aid on every eligible donation.

Thanks

James
