Story

Sarah Ponting (Physiotherapist) and Richard Cave (Speech and Language Therapist) are running 2 marathons and 1 half marathon between them to raise money for the Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU). They will be running over 65 miles!

The RRU cares for up to 22 younger adults with with severe and complex disabilities due to brain injuries, who need specialist rehabilitation. It is a centre of excellence for person-centred rehabilitation and inter-team working. The RRU has improved the quality of life of hundreds of people who come to us –  residents and their families too.

Sarah and Richard have been training hard over the winter and spring - fitting in 20 mile runs in between work commitments. Between them they have already run over 600 miles to get ready for 'the big one'.

Sarah will start the mission by running the London Marathon - her target is completing all 26 miles in less than 4 hours 30 minutes. Richard will then run the Stockholm Marathon (target 4:40) and 1 week later run a half marathon between Denmark and Sweden across the largest bridge in Europe, finishing the epic adventure in Malmo.

All the money we raise will go directly towards buying equipment to help patient rehabilitation on the unit.

Please sponsor us! Thanks so much for your support - we really appreciate your help!
