Story

I have decided to combine my fundraising for the Great South Run 2010 (24th October 2010) and the London Marathon 2011 (17th April 2011) in aid of Teens Unite Fighting Cancer. This is the official charity of the Mayor of Broxbourne for the 2010-11 municipal year. Please dig deep and donate online to this most worthwhile charity.

I’m very pleased to say that I managed to complete the London Marathon yesterday. On a very hot day it was a struggle at times but the crowds really did push me to the finish with their screaming and cheering (my wife was great and travelled around the course by tube and the Docklands Light Railway and managed to see me in 4 places to offer the greatest encouragement and support). As in previous years (this was my 3rd London Marathon) there was a wide range of music on the course with live bands, discos and residents simply putting their stereo speakers in their front garden all creating a carnival atmosphere which helped take my mind off the pain and heat.

I'm pleased to have completed the 10-mile Great South Run in Portsmouth on 24th October 2010. It was perfect running conditions on the day and I managed to get around in one piece. No personal best time for me but a very enjoyable run.

Teens Unite Fighting Cancer has been established to help young people build on their low self esteem, self confidence and to reduce the feeling of isolation, realising that others are facing similar challenges.
