My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

"The Scrum" is BBC London 94.9s weekly rugby union show, broadcast at 9pm each Thursday. Two of the show's presenters, Sara Orchard and Mick Collins, are running the 2008 Flora London Marathon and being fundamentally good-hearted souls, they decided to raise a few pounds for a good cause to make them feel better about their forthcoming discomfort.

The ugly details about prostate cancer are on the left. One of the men who received a diagnosis, back in 2005, was ex-Rosslyn Park, England and British Lion, Andy Ripley. Andy is winning his fight, and has written an (award-winning!) book to detail his experiences. We interviewed him, listened to him talk about life with cancer, and the Prostate Cancer Charity became a natural choice. You can learn more about them at www.prostate-cancer.org.uk, because as Andy has shown, it's a fight that can be won, and a message that needs to be spread.

For just a few pounds, you can force us to plod the streets for mile after mile. If that doesn't give you a warm feeling, directly proportionate to the cold feeling that will be sweeping over us, nothing will...

You can also, if you'd prefer, sponsor us in the good, old fashioned way, and just throw money in our direction - it'll get to the charity - honest. We'd like to thank Jon Van Leer, Janine Koshnevison and particularly Hazel Green and Ian Robertson for their generous (off-line) support.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Prostate Cancer Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
