Jack and Jamie's Walk to Marseille · 21 May 2016

The chance to go to school is a chance to break the cycle of poverty - we support children who would otherwise wouldn’t have this opportunity. By facilitating this fundamental stage of development in a child’s life we will improve social mobility and the lives of entire township communities.

Story

Thank you for choosing to sponser Jack and Jamie's Walk to Marseille! Here you can support the Township Initiative.

The Township Initiative is a registered charity founded and run by Jamie. Townships are often undeveloped urban areas of South Africa, home to 11 million people across the country. The lack of education afforded to those in township’s is devastating - 2/3rds of those that don’t receive education end up in poverty compared with just five percent of those that receive some form of higher education. Nelson Mandela stated that "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". We believe that education empowers. The very real danger is that a generation will be lost to poverty because they have not had the type of opportunity granted only by an education.  The Township Initiative plans to support education to change lives - giving children the chance to go to school. Founded in 2014, the money raise will allow the Township Initiative to put into place the plans that will take children in the Cape township of Khayelitsha off the streets and into school.

Thank you so much for your generosity.
