Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

The DFSG helps families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition mainly affecting boys. The condition results in decreasing mobility and muscle strength with limited life expectancy (usually to mid-20s). We provide a helpline, support, and organise social events.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

My name is Tom Bancroft my son Karl, who is 16 now, suffers with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Our family are members of the Duchenne family Support Group and know from experience just how important the group is to families.

Started in 1987 by a small group of parents who had children diagnosed as having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the DFSG is now a national charity run by families for families affected by DMD.

The Duchenne Family Support Group strives to provide a positive national support network for parents, their families and professionals working within or providing support services for people affected by DMD.

We have been on numerous holidays and events organized by the DFSG, a number of which have been subsidized by the group. This is my way of giving something back to the group so others can benefit as we have.

For this reason I have decided to set myself the challenge of running the 2010 London marathon for the group

so please give grenoursly and help me reach my target as this really is a good cause.

Many Thanks

Tom Bancroft
