Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
Some of you will know our youngest son, Tom, and some of you won't. He was born with a congenital heart defect known as Transposition of the Great Arteries, along with a few other anomalies which made an already complex surgical procedure even more of a challenge. Thanks to amazingly high tech equipment, the medical team was able accurately to map out Tom's unusual anatomy and carry out the operation very successfully when he was just 12 days old. We saw many parents at the Royal Brompton in a much less happy position than us knowing that their children were about to embark on a period of long term operative care. When you see what the parents have to go through and how brave the children are, you just want to make it better for them. We're raising money to further enhance facilities in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Royal Brompton Hospital by raising money towards Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner facilities to avoid the added trauma of transferring of babies by ambulance from one building to another. The scanner can help avoid invasive procedures for children and reduces exposure to X-ray radiation. Please help us to make a big difference. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to make a donation. Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Charitable Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
