Story
Thanks for making it this far. If you're already here then I'm hoping this message is not really neccessary as you've already decided to part with some cash for the benefit of WheelPower. In case you need a little more persuasion, and in a last bid to try and eek a bit more out of you than perhaps you were thinking of giving I'm going to fill you in on what it is that WheelPower does and why I have decided to run for them.
Sport is one of the things I enjoy most in my life and the idea of it being taken away terrifies me.
WheelPower helps people who have disablities (specifically those that constrict them to a wheel chair) get into sport. A sports wheel chair is staggeringly expensive at £3,000 and WheelPower aim to raise £6-million, enough money to provide over two thousand sports wheelchairs to disabled children and young adults by the time the Paralympics return ‘home’ in August 2012.
They also provide accessible facilities at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the “home of Wheelchair Sport” including an Athletics Arena, Sports Hall, Indoor Bowls Centre, Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre.
WheelPower return to people who think they have lost everything the ability to do something they love and that is quite an achievement and something I think is well worth supporting.
Now show me the money!
PS.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WheelPower gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
