Story
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Jimmy Saville, Jane Tomlinson, Eddie Izzard, that man who ran the London Marathon in a deep sea divers outfit, all extraordinary people who have stretched themselves beyond the known limits of human endurance to raise huge amounts of money for charity.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now, add to that list Andrew Ball, Mark Beagan, Kevin Gillard and Dave Mahon who will stretch themselves to breaking point, use muscles they never knew they had and dig deeper than they’ve ever dug before by playing a round of golf.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now, you’re probably thinking what’s the big deal?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Well, firstly, none of us have ever played 18 holes of golf before, secondly, we’ll be doing it blindfolded (not literally) and thirdly, we’ll be doing it to raise money to help children with a communication disability.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>That’s the big deal.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It may not be a marathon, but it’s no walk in the park.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Actually, come to think of it, it is a walk in the park really isn’t it.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Anyway, the important thing to know is that if you sponsor us, you’ll be helping children like Jack who has a Specific Language Impairment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the UK today, there are over 600,000 children who have a Specific Language Impairment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Despite no </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">obvious cause, these children find it hard to talk and understand what other people say. As a result, children like <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Jack, now aged 13</strong>, </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-US">need to be taught speech, language and social communication skills which other children learn naturally. They need specialist teaching, as early as possible in their lives, and extra support.</span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The charity Afasic supports children like Jack and their parents in getting the help they need so they can life their life to the full.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>A child that struggles with communication will struggle with life. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">The big day is Friday 16 September and the event is the Afasic Charity Golf Day. This is your chance to put words into a child’s mouth by sponsoring these four cack-handed novice golfers. Thank you! </span></p>
