Story

**************************************************************************

Well... that was hard work! I am proud to say that all four of us successfully completed all three peaks in 24hrs 56mins.

Were pleased with the time considering that the last peak (Snowdon) was completed in gale force winds and blinding mist, meaning we had to hold on to the rock face (on the Minors Route) at times, and hold on to the summit podium to stop ourselves from being blown away!

A BIG thanks to everybody that has donated, very pleased indeed, i think once all money is in, we should have raised about £740, which is waaaaaay more than double what we were hoping for.

Also a big thanks for John Cuthbert for supplying our Biodiesel and letting us borrow his most excellent Land Rover Defender all free of charge.  Thanks to Keith & Jac Brickam for lending us a last minute trailer (enabling us to actually move our limbs in the Land Rover).  Another big thanks to Dom, our driver (aka 'The Machine') who simply refused to get tired and made sure got to each peak and made sure we had flasks of hot water waiting for us when we got back from Ben Nevis.

Thanks again to everyone... and expect to hear from us again sometime next year for another challenge... maybe the 'Welsh 3000's'!

Hello!

Myself, Steven Bone, Chris Jones and Ian Cuthbert were sitting round a table of Ales one evening, busy lacing the landlords pockets with money when we thought... hmmm... maybe one day we should spend our money on something a little more adventurous and worthy. Many charitable challenge ideas were floated around, such as, juggling midgets, win a Grand Prix, Great White Shark wrestling, monkey tennis. But in the end we settled on:

4 Men 3 Mountains (3 peaks challenge!)

So here's the plan:

Saturday 25th May:

12 hour drive from Norwich to the foot of Ben Nevis. This time will be wisely spent looking at maps, checking and rechecking equipment (note: it will NOT be wasted with general chit-chat, playing games on phones and stopping for a large Big Mac meal with extra cheeseburger and a coke please).

Scotland, Ben Nevis, 26th May 6am:

Awake fresh, bright eyed and bushy tailed after a long solid night’s sleep camping. Make our way to the bottom of Ben Nevis and start the stopwatches! The challenge begins, this time tomorrow we need to have completed all 3 peaks!

In order to help keep spirits up, we have a number of discussion topics planned, such as, politics, global economy, boobs, equality in the modern world etc.

Once Ben Nevis is completed we all hop back in to the waiting vehicle with our trusty rally trained driver Dominic, and start the 6 hour trip to England/Scafell Pike.  At this point Dom will do his best to get to the crucial 88mph; failing that, we will stick to the speed limit and try to get some sleep.  Upon waking we will be carrying on our diet of healthy foods snacks, such as sugar-snap-peas and spinach (note: see Saturday “note”).

England, Scafell Pike, 26th May 5pm:

We begin to climb Scafell Pike feeling well rested and in jovial spirits, probably laughing loudly about how pleasantly easy this challenge is.  I expect we will jump hilly brush and begin to use words such as ‘tally-ho’ and ‘yonder’.  There is a small chance at this point we will be massively tired with aching legs/feet and not feel at all fresh, but instead cold and clammy.

Once completed, once again we hop back in to our vehicle with Dom waiting to whisk us off to our next peak (5 hours away) filling our driving time similarly to previous journeys!  Dom will probably fill his time waiting for us by doing any minor repairs needed to the flux capacitor.

Wales, Snowdon, 27 May 2am:

We begin to climb our third and final peak!  Huzzah! We may potentially be feeling a little tired now with some minor aches, but thankfully after a solid sleep enroute, we will probably feel reenergised and tempted to run up Snowdon confident our minor aches and pains will be massaged out by vigorous exercise.

There is a small outside chance that by this point, some of us have either passed out from exhaustion / gotten lost on a mountain somewhere / have broken limbs and broken spirits / be in the foetal position weeping and asking for our mums.

Wales Snowdon, 27 May 6am… DID WE MAKE IT!?!?
