7 May at sees the start of Tigger the English Springer Spaniel epic 7 Day, 700 mile charity cycle ride from London to Berlin to raise money and awareness for CRY, Cardiac Risk in The Young, and Maternity Worldwide (saving lives in Childbirth). Tigger has a pet passport which allows him to travel through Holland and onwards to Berlin on his specially adapted “Filibus” Cargo Bike and is joined by 8 other cyclists from across the UK. Starting from Tower Bridge the cyclists are covering an average of 100 miles a day to arrive on the 13 May at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and hope to raise over £20,000 for the two charities.

Tigger’s bicycle is being chauffeured by Chris Lovitt who says:- “Peoples reaction to a dog on a bicycle is always fantastic, last year we did three charity rides together but this is definitely the hardest- it’s a great way of raising the profile of the two amazing charities and helps in persuading people to donate to the charities. Although Tigger does add a little to the weight which makes climbing hills slow and hard work”.

The two charities the cyclists are raising money and awareness for are CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young- which undertakes research and provides support for people affected by sudden adult death and Maternity Worldwide which works in developing countries to make childbirth safer.
