Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

It's about trying to raise a few quid for the charity that supports the work of the lovely ladies and gents who kindly sorted out my smashed jaw from an end-of-season football collision last season.

A brief synopsis. My brother roped me into playing a meaningless Northern Senior League game. I was running the show as usual before a collision with their hulking midfielder left my face in belt and braces for a month with a triple fracture of the jaw.

From Royal Gloucester Hospital, for the surgery, to BARTS in London for for the aftercare, the efforts and support from the staff was overwhelming, with the operation performed to 'world-class' levels (I am reliably informed from the Xrays).

Wanting to try and give a little bit back, they put me in touch with Saving Faces, which is a practical research charity that looks to perfect the best ways of tackling facial injury (such as mine), deformity and disease (such as surgery due to mouth and throat cancers).

Hence this page has been set-up for donations.

A few of us are running the Birmingham Half-Marathon on October 11 and whilst I do not see it as a fund-raising event for such a hardened bunch of elite athletes, I have managed to strike a deal through the organisers that effectively lets every £1 DONATED BE TURNED INTO £4 for the charity.

So if you would like to join me in helping the guys that fixed my face to work out the best way of fixing more deserving cases, then this is your chance!

ps. make sure you tick the Gift Aid box!
