UPDATE!! We're heading out on Saturday 4th June and hopefully stagger to the finish line by Sunday 12th!
The Kinder Mountain Rescue team does an incredibly heroic job saving people’s lives on some of the most dangerous terrain in the UK. They are all 100% volunteers who give up their time to actively go out and rescue fell walkers, runners and missing persons from life-threatening situations. They receive no Government funding at all and rely entirely on public donations to fund everything from their rescue vehicles to climbing equipment and medical supplies. Without them there’s no doubt the Peak District would be a much more dangerous place to visit.
Since we’ve been out and about in the Peak District and beyond in the last 12 months doing everything from climbing, running and mountain boarding, we want to say a massive thanks to KMRT. Not just for their commitment or dedication but simply for being there and looking out for guys like us who look up at massive snow clouds and think ‘hey that looks like fun!’
And there’s no better way than to raise some money for them to keep going by hiking 270 miles across 8 days on the historic Pennine Way. Beginning at Edale in the Peak District, the route chases the mountain tops northwards through the Yorkshire dales and over Hadrian’s Wall, deep into the Cheviots. We have to carry all the supplies we need to keep going at over 30 miles a day. Instead of crashing at a comfy B&B each night we’ll be bickering and arguing while putting up a tent in freezing rain at 10pm. Along the way we’ll be meeting up with fell walkers, ramblers and adventurers to find out what keeps bringing them back out. It surely can’t just be the fresh air.
Thanks for visiting and please give as generously as you can - we may depend upon it!
Tim & James
