Having not done a 21km run since the Birmingham Half Marathon in 2009 we decided it's been long enough between drinks. So, on 20 May Half Marathon Man & Anne will be running the </span><strong style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: #222222;">Sydney Half Marathon</strong><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: #222222;">. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Getting up in the dark is never fun. Getting up in the dark in order to line up at 6:30am on a Sunday and run 21km is even less fun. That said, we're both looking forward to the challenge and have been training hard in preparation.<br> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">In order to address the sticky issue of family and friends on opposite sides of the world, we have set up both a UK page and an Australia page. Anyone can donate to either (or both) but foreign currency exchange rates bring an uncertainty that we thought was best avoided.<br> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">In the <strong>UK</strong> we will be fundraising for Sheffield Mencap & Gateway. This amazing organisation supports children and adults with learning disabilities from across Sheffield. Annie had a fantastic year volunteering with the young people’s social group “Gateway”. She made some amazing friends and saw what a difference just a small amount of money can help in assisting these young people to lead more independent lives. Although she can’t give her time anymore, this was her first thought for fundraising.<br> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">In <strong>Australia</strong> we will be fundraising for the Sydney Cancer Centre at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. A close family friend has recently been undergoing treatment and we hope that by raising funds for RPA they can continue their support for </span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">the individuals and families affected by cancer in New South Wales.<br> </span></p>
