Story
My friend and housemate Tim Rattray, died suddenly and completely unexpectedly on 14th October 2005 from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome at the age of 25.
We had recently started climbing together and were climbing partners for the few months before he died. As a tribute to Tim and to raise money and awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome I have committed to climb Mont Blanc at the beginning of August, a trip I’m sure he would be doing with me given the chance.
Climbing Mont Blanc is a notoriously difficult challenge made harder by my current poor level of fitness. I’m hoping that my total commitment to this will help me prepare enough for the climb and inspire everyone to give generously to such a worthy cause.
I'm funding the trip myself so all the money raised will go to Cardiac Risk in the Young (“CRY”) who work continuously to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and have helped Tim’s friends and family to cope with losing him.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CRY will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
