First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Hello, Tim here. Thanks for logging in

I am cycling with a dozen friends from London to Paris between 1 - 3rd May.  This is a self-organised tour so all costs are borne by me and any money donated will go straight to the charity.

Why St George's Neonatal unit? simple, my daughter was born there at 27 weeks gestation and weighing less than one Kg. The fantatstic staff (and equipment; once a techie always a techie) saved her life and she is now a healthy (and suitably opinionated so entirely normal) 16 year-old young lady.  Any donation you can give, even in these tough times, would be really appreciated by the staff and parents. Especially the parents who dont yet know they need the unit.

The trip entails cycling about 120km per day with a sleep on the ferry on night one, in mid -northern france night two and finally arriving at the Eiffel Tower on sunday to hoist the union jack.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Friends Of The Neonatal Unit At St. Georges gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
