Welcome to my fundraising page!

(Message 19th June)

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Thanks to all who have donated and supported me to run the London Marathon for the Nehemiah project.  It has been a massive challenge for me personally and you have all helped me one way or another to get there - so thanks!!

New York next?

(Message on 16th June 09)

Thanks to you who have amazingly helped me to raise 96% of the target amount asked for by the Nehemiah Project.  There is still time to donate should you wish to help me complete the fundraising.

Only £100.61 to go!!

THANK YOU!!

Marathon Over!  I ran it in four hours six minutes and twenty four seconds.  It was hot and there were a lot of people in front of me.  It took me five minutes and 23 seconds to get down the stairs this morning!

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Its Marathon Eve.

My Race Number is 47774 and Im wearing purple.

The massage I had yesterday hurt.

BBC coverage is from 8.30am.

The mass race starts at 9.45am.

Track my run with your WAP phone.  Text 'RUN' to 83040 and receive a link from Adidas.  Type in my bib number 47774 and see how I run.  It tracks the race chip on my shoelaces as I go through the 5K (3.1mile) markers.

Im expecting a time around 4 hours.

I am chuffed to bits that I’ve secured a place to run the London Marathon this year, on 26 April, and that I will be running to raise money for a charity called the Nehemiah Project. This project works with men that have severe addiction problems, empowering them to take responsibility for their own lives and become men that can overcome their addictions. A staggering 75% of their clients become completely free from addiction following time at the project – this is an amazing success rate.

It is apt, in my view, that I am running for the Nehemiah Project. I have followed their work closely for a number of years and have applied similar techniques to those used at Nehemiah in my own bid for freedom from addiction and substance abuse. I have learnt that true freedom comes from going to the difficult places, that healing comes from addressing the root causes of addiction. This approach is what Nehemiah do best. Please check out their website at http:// www.nehemiahproject.org.uk.

My own health and fitness have been completely transformed over the last year. In November 2007, I weighed 17.5 stone. Now, as a result of a new diet and exercise regime, I weigh about 14 stone. In April 2006, I gave up a forty-a-day lifelong smoking addiction. My whole way of life has been transformed!

Will you support me as I run the marathon to support this amazing project? Raising money will mean that more of this life-changing work can take place – more lives can be changed forever.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me! The Nehemiah Project will receive your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving guarantees they get an extra 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement will be added to your donation.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page – I will let you know how my London Marathon run goes after 26 April!

(If you want to check on my training progress I will from time to time be posting updates on http://timmcgowan.blogspot.com).
