Story
I like to take on a challenge every year, and thought breaking my collar bone was going to stop me partaking in this immense ride. But after 6 weeks of sitting around with a sling on, I'm now back training again, and have a few weeks to try and get my fitness back up to scratch before taking on this HUGE challenge.
As if 100 miles off road wasn't enough of a challenge, the South Downs Way is a beautiful but very hilly off road route from Winchester to Beachy Head, with around 14000 feet of climb. (in perspective the London to Brighton cycle is around 750 feet of climb, and only 54 miles on smooth roads!) I'm going to have very tired legs and a very sore saddle bum, but am determined to complete the whole ride in a day, hopefully by sunset!
I'm back raising money for one of my favourite charities this year, the British Heart Foundation. More than a quarter of all deaths in the UK are caused by cardiovascular (heart and circulatory) disease. In fact roughly every three minutes someone in the UK has a heart attack. The BHF do fantastic work funding scientific research into the causes and best treatment of heart disease, as well as how to reduce damage from heart attacks. Any donations however small or large, will be put to great use by the BHF, and mean a lot to me.
