Story
Kingston Hospital Neonatal Unit cares for babies born up to 4 months too soon, weighing as little as One pound (450grams) also sick newborn infants. Born too Soon support parents whilst their baby is being cared for on the unit and also raises funds to purchase specialist equipment. Our unit cared for 491 tiny sick babies last year. We are very grateful to the The Rotary Club of Kingston for organising this event and also to everyone taking part. Cheques should be made payable to Kingston Hospital Born too Soon. Thank You. It is a little known fact that up to 10% of all babies delivered requires some form of care on a unit such as ours. Thank you for helping us to make a difference.
To make this more personal, Oliver Jack Robinson, baby of Karen & Paul was in the Neonatal unit after birth last November with a “high virus count” and for various monitoring & testing to ensure he was 100% well. He was under 24hour observation and underwent various tests including a lumber puncture to check for meningitis and a brain scan to check for any blood clots. Thankfully all ended well and he was released after just 3 days having been diagnosed with simply “trauma from the lengthy 5 DAY LABOUR” that he and his mum endured. The staff at the unit were fantastic and Oliver’s Nana Christine would like everyone to contribute to this worthwhile cause as a token gesture to celebrate her 60th Birthday. Thank you for looking and please donate now.
