Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Well this year I ran the London Marathon for Beat in memory of my best mates daughter Charlotte who recently passed away - She was barely 18 when she died of Anorexia.

I have watched her family fight to come to terms with their traumatic loss. Their continuing energy in making things better for others suffering from this and other eating disorder illnesses is truly inspirational. Indeed with the assistance of Beat and post much hard work and traumatic events (Coroners Inquiry et al), Chris and Pauline have singlehandedly changed NHS policy ensuring additional staff, funding and training have been allocated to eating disorder care - I have huge admiration for their efforts and so am looking to do my bit to assist in their cause to try and ensure that those who suffer from this illness and their families get the help and support they deserve.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading my message - I amtruly grateful for what you have given.

Done now - 3 hr 25 05 phew! Thanks to all who supported :-)

Best wishes - Martin 'Tinny' Tinworth
