Story
18th April 2005 -
Yesterday went brilliantly, the crowds and atmosphere were absolutely amazing and the weather was fantastic too (if not a bit too hot!). I felt surprisingly good up until about mile 17 and then it really started to get tough, and the last six miles were extremely painful! But, I managed to finish in 4 hours 52 mins and overtook Floella Benjamin and a Rhino!
Today I can barely move and I've just pulled a towel rail off the wall trying to stand up in the bathroom! But, the aches today are a very small price to pay for the amazing experience of yesterday which I'll remember for a long time to come.
I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to everybody who so generously sponsored me to run the marathon, it really did help me keep going. I haven't yet collected in all the sponsor money, but I'm hoping to have raised over £1400 for ALD Life - so, thank you so much again.

07/04/05 - The hard work is all done now, until the 17th of course! For the next week the plan is to eat as much rice and pasta as is humanly possible and to avoid tripping over, falling down stairs or any other mishap that could avoid me getting to the start line!!
Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far, it's been such a motivation to keep going! ----------------------------------------------------------- Well, I was planning that I would finally be accepted for the London marathon when I was 30 which would have given me 4 years training but I've actually been lucky (unlucky?!) enough this year to have got a place!! I have chosen to support ALDLife, a new charity designed to support families affected by adrenoleukodystrophy, a rare and terminal brain disease. People very close to me have been affected by this terrible disease so the charity is very close to my heart. I would be so grateful if you could offer me any sponsorship - and I promise to train very hard!! Many thanks for your support. Lucy x P.S. - Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ALD Life will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
