Story
Hi all!
Thank you for visiting my page, and hopefully for donating towards my fundraising target of £200.00 for Parkinson's UK! I am running the Reading Half Marathon in memory of my Dad, who passed away in June after suffering with Parkinson's.
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. Many years ago, around the time of my Dad's retirement, he was told that he was one of 127,000 people in the UK who had this debilitating disease. It all started as a slight tremor in his hand, but gradually got worse with more symptoms becoming apparent. As the months and years went on, the severity of the Parkinson's worsened. The tremor worsened, it was constant, and affected him all over his body. In the year leading up to his death he could barely walk, barely stand, without falling and hurting himself, including breaking bones. Parkinson's had such a massive affect on day to day life, not only for my Dad, but also for my Mum who had to care for him 24/7.
I can't even start to describe the many symptoms and affects Parkinson's has on people, but would like to take this opportunity by running the Reading Half Marathon, to not only raise funds, but also awareness. Please take a moment to visit www.parkinsons.org.uk.
Many thanks again for visiting my page.. your donations could go a long way towards funding Parkinson's nurses, enabling clinics or hopefully, finding a cure.
