Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As some of you may know I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in May 2007. It was a bit of a shock at first but the support of my wife, family, friends, work colleagues and healthcare professionals has been fantastic and I have now come to terms with the disease (and the fact that I am now a human pin cushion!). I have not let my condition get in the way of doing the things that I want to do - and it is certainly not preventing me from taking part in this year's Cross Channel Relay Race. I am part of a team of 6 and we will be relay swimming from Dover to Cap Gris Nez on 17 August (or within a few days of this date depending on the weather). This is a distance of 22 miles and will hopefully take around 15 hours. There will be 2 teams of 6 competing against each other and between us we hope to raise at least £12k for Diabetes UK, a charity with the aim of helping to eventually find a cure for diabetes. It will certainly be an interesting challenge, which I am both looking forward to and dreading at the same time. So please sponsor me now!
The money raised is going to an excellent cause and your support is very much appreciated. Many thanks. Tobi You can see details of the rest of the team and group fundraising total at the following website http://www.dukswim.co.uk/, along with pictures of our first training session down in Dover, which was very cold indeed!!
