Story

My dad was recently diagnosed with Bowel Cancer & he's still undergoing treatment.

I’m supporting Dr Owen Sansom’s stem cell research into the causes of bowel cancer.  If Dr Owen & his team can discover what causes bowel cancer then they can find new ways to prevent, diagnose & treat it – which is a pretty good reason!

The is Event: Cancer Research's Shine London 2012 . On the 29th September I'll be walking 26.2miles (a full marathon) at night in 9hours.

The project needs £50,000 which isn't alot so anything that you can give will have an immediate impact. So far the project has raised £3k, So, please support me and give whatever you can.

Thanks for taking the time to donate,  Love, Lucy -----------------------------------

Facts: Some more reasons to donate, putting it in perspective!

Interestingly I’ve found that cancer effects more people than you realise. In 2010 in England alone, 268,758 people were newly diagnosed with malignant cancer – which is the equivalent of filling the Olympic stadium three and a half times!

Of this number, Bowel cancer was one of the top 4 most common cancers with around 34,000 newly diagnosed cases and the average age it effects is really young – 57yrs old for men and 36yrs old for women. And if you read the stats on the Cancer Research site the number is growing every year - it is now around 41,000.

So I want to raise money to help our clever scientists be more brilliant and bring this number down and to better support those 41,000 who are undergoing treatment.
