Story
Thanks for visiting the team JustGiving page for Barry, Gail and Tom.
We finished the Jersey Marathon on September 27th 2009.
A big thank you to all of our supporters and generous donaters.
On the 27th September we were all nervous novices to the distance - but with your support (and coercion) we managed to step up to the start line and take part in what would prove to be a long and arduous race...
300 runners took part in the 4th Jersey Marathon on what was a hot and hilly course across and around the island. It felt like the whole island had turned out to support us - so thanks to the organisers (Helen at Standard Chartered Bank) and the islanders.
The winning time was a blistering 2hr38 - but the first FRANK novice came in at 4.06hrs...Well done to Gail. Tom finished in 4.20hrs and Barry in 4.30hrs (complete with broken foot!)
The FRANK team also adopted a 4th team runner - another novice - Richard from the Standard Chartered Bank to enable us to register for the mixed team prize (which we narrowly missed by about 5 hours!). Richard overcame heroic cramps to finish to a standing ovation from the gallery of fans (patiently!) waiting for him...
Finally - just a quick reminder - Every penny raised (and an additional 24% gift aid) goes to FRANK Water Projects - a small but effective charity set up by Katie Alcott in Bristol. FYI since 2005 FRANK have funded over 30 village clean water projects in India for 210,000 people and with your help they plan to do a lot more...The Jersey Marathon alone will have provided clean drinking water for over 3000 runners - An amazing effort - so thanks for your generous support.
FRANK you from the FRANK Running Water Team
