We support bereaved children and families to help rebuild their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you are aware, on the 20th of January 2008 our wonderful first born daughter, Madeleine Ivy Peacock passed away at Kings College Hospital in London.  Up until a few days before, Maddie had been a normal healthy toddler, who bought so much light and love into everyones life she touched.

In a strange way we were luckier than most who lose children, as we had our son Joseph to keep us going thorugh those dark dark times, but there were plenty of times where we felt we needed something to turn to, but unfortunately resources are few and far between.

The old cliche of time being a great healer has proven slightly true, and whilst a day doesnt pass when I dont think of Maddie, we are now able to celebrate Maddies short life.

Whilst I hope that no one will ever need to turn to the Child Bereavement Charity for support, life simply isnt that kind, and I want to do all I can to ensure that when a parent is faced with the awful realisation of their childs death, that there are resources available to support the parents and family as much as possible.

The CBC provides specialised support, information and training to all those affected when a baby or child dies, or when a child is bereaved. Unfortunately I know from personal experience how life changing bereavement can be and I now aim to help other families that are going through the same situation that myself and my family have. I personally found very little help was available immediately after Maddies death, the NHS has virtually cut all funding to this area of healthcare, so most people like myself have to rely on outside organisations such as the CBC.

Nothing will ever bring Maddie back, but please help me to help others by sponsoring my run in the London marathon!
