Story
On September 2nd 2006 we will be taking up the biggest challenge of our lives and cycling 460km across Malawi, in southern Africa.
'Cycle Malawi' will raise vital funds for Transaid which fights poverty in Africa by working with local people to improve the way that transport is managed. This gives more people access to healthcare, education and work opportunities, which is especially important in remote, rural areas where buses, trains and even tarmac roads are non-existent.
It is especially appropriate that we are cycling, because Transaid has a project in Malawi which helps people in remote villages to get emergency healthcare by "bicycle ambulance" - a simple trailer which is made by local craftspeople and fixed to the back of a bike.
The coming months will be dedicated to getting fit for Cycle Malawi and fundraising for Transaid and your help or support in reaching or exceeding our target would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Transaid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
