The London Duathlon 2006 · 17 September 2006 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.   On the 17th Sept I ran and cycled the 35k London Duathlon for Pancreatic Cancer UK in a time of 2 hours and 10 minutes. Thankyou to everyone who so generously sponsored me.

Pancreatic Cancer UK shares a cause close to my heart as my mother died of pancreatic cancer 5 years ago now.  As cancers go its a pretty awful one to get - it has the lowest survival rate of any cancer - less than 1% of patients with the most common form of pancreatic cancer survive more than 5 years.  Unlike many other cancers, survival rates for pancreatic cancer haven't improved in the last 40 years, knowledge about its causes are still limited, there is currently no early detection test, and by the time it is normally detected it is very hard to treat.

Basically, it's a pretty deserving cause and so any donations to fund research etc. to help improve the outlook for future patients will be greatly received.

If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thanks again for your support.
