The Rob Roy certainly proved a challenge - a tough course and heavy rain making for some interesting riding conditions. Thanks again for all your support <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 5pt; line-height: normal;" class="MsoNormal"> </div> Tom </div> About the challenge The Roy Roy Challenge covers 55 miles of the Rob Roy Way, through the tough terrain of the Scottish Highlands. On 18th June, I will be taking part in a 16 mile hike (from Drymen, through the Trossachs to Callander), then switching to a bike for the 39 mile cycle to Kenmore. The event has three medal stages. With the help of our support team, Vania and Paula, our aim is to complete the entire challenge. Although having never done anything like this before, I am not exactly sure what we are about to let ourselves in for! My training is coming along- cycling around Richmond Park in a gale should hopefully be good preparation for what is in store in the Highlands! Why this? This is a tough challenge and a unique event, with around 750 people spending a day hiking and cycling along the Rob Roy Way. Most importantly for me, this is an opportunity to raise some money for some extremely worthwhile causes. By entering the Rob Roy Challenge I have committed to raise £400 for the Martin Currie Foundation, a registered charity (SCO37106), run by the staff of Martin Currie Investment Management. In 2011 the main beneficiaries of the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge will be the NSPCC, Sightsavers and Alzheimer Scotland.
