Story
Hi
As you all know (and I am sure you are bored of me telling you) I have been involved with setting up and running a charity called VESL. On the first weekend of October myself and some past volunteers aim to walk the circumference (over 600 miles) of Sri Lanka - the country VESL started in. As it would be too expensive to get everyone to Sri Lanka - we are going to do the walk round Derbyshire - similar just without the palm tress! I am not personally going to walk 600 miles.....but if we add up all the miles of everyone who takes part we hope to complete this challenge. I can assure you this is still going to mean a lot of miles....and many of them up steep hills! So will be quite a challenge.
We are aiming to raise money for the VESL Education fund. The fund is to support projects that we currently work with in poor rural communities in Sri Lanka, India and Thailand - including those areas we have sent volunteers to previously but are now affected by civil war in Sri Lanka, and the recent flooding in northern Thailand. All money raised will go directly to supporting these local communities.
Many thanks for all your support
Tom
