Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Tom, I'm 20 years old and currently live in Cardiff where I go to University studying English and Creative Writing. Last year my girlfriend Emma Hughes was told she had a condition called Multiple Sclerosis. I can't really imagine how it felt for her, I can only empathise, but I think it's fair to say it is a condition on the fringes of societies 'medical radar', what this meant for Emma is that she was entirely unprepared for her diagnosis, and didn't really know what it meant for her. She had to quickly learn the biology of her condition, and was told about the treatments available by her doctors. Consequently she had to face her phobia of needles to undertake the treatment cycle that would require her to self inject once a week. All of this came very suddenly, and I know for a fact that charities like the MS Society helped her to not only understand her condition, but to remain optomistic throughout a very scary time in her life.

The MS Society is at the forefront of the ongoing battle against MS, and is an amazing service that provides constant help and information, anything at all that could be deemed useful, and delivers it right to the people that need it. Through research by them and other organisations similiar, new oral treatments are in development, and the progress is unfaulting.

I hope by participating in this run I can help in a small way by promoting this amazing charity so they can gather the support to continue doing such an amazing selfless job.
