Chicago Marathon · 9 October 2005 ·

Jimmy Goddard was paralysed from the chest down as a result of a climbing accident in August 2004. He is now in the final stages of rehabilitation but like other spinal injuries patients, will face ongoing costs for the rest of his life. The Jimmy Goddard Trust Fund has been set up to help give a better chance of leading an independent life again. The fund will also be donating some of the proceeds raised to the Welsh Air Ambulance and Spinal Injuries Association. For more information about Jimmy's accident and remarkable road to recovery visit www.jimmygoddard.com.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

It has been some slog getting here and it is a pleasure to be running for such a good cause. Throughout the last 2 years I have been building on the recovery from a knee injury and gradually improving my times over a range of distances.

February 2004 - Paris Half Marathon.

September 2004 - Chariots of Fire Relay, Cambridge. November 2004 - The Nike 10k, London. April 2005 - Sawston 5 Mile Fun Run. May 2005 - The Stornoway Half Marathon. September 2005 - Cancer Research 10k, Audley End. October 2005 - The Chicago Marathon. Although I mainly run for fun and so did not raise a significant amount of sponsorship for any of my previous races I have decided to pull out all the stops and use this opportunity to raise money for The Jimmy Goddard Trust Fund and associated charities. I have a target time of 3 hours and fifty two minutes. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Many thanks for your support.
