Yes, get off the floor from falling off your chair its true, I am doing the Marathon. Admittedly when I signed up for it I thought it said 2.62 miles not the 26.2 miles it actually is!!
Joking aside I am doing it for a charity that is close to a lot of our hearts - the "Give It Your Max" Intiaitve.
For those of you that may not be aware, Max Stotesbury was a good friend who tragically died in a car accident in October 2004. As a very good tennis player himself, Max thrived on teaching kids the game. After the accident his parents, Tara and Michael decided to set up "Give it your Max" (GIYM) in his memory. The charity's primary function is to offer children from a variety of backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to learn and enjoy tennis... kids who otherwise would not have had the chance.
To date, GIYM has enabled a number of professional tennis coaches to visit over 230 schools and provided nearly 70,000 children with their first experience of playing the game.
With your generous donation, I intend to raise £2,500 towards this worthwhile charity so that more young can improve their self confidence and social skills by picking up a racket and interacting with other children.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Tennis Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
I look forward to hopefully seeing you on the 26th April to cheer/laugh me on!
Tom
