Hi, firstly thank you for donating and taking the time to read why I have chosen to dramically shave my head!

I have chosen to shave my head for the Huntington's disease association, this is a charity very close to my heart as my dad and three sisters all suffer with it! Unfortunately for the past 10 years or so my dad has lost all of his independence and lives in a care home that specialise in the disease.

Huntington's disease is a faulty gene that is passed down from parent to child, which then means the child has a 50% chance of also having the faulty gene. It attacks the patients nervous system so they suffer with uncontrollable muscle movements, speech difficulties and most common dementia and so many like my dad start losing the ability to look after themselves, like washing their clothes, brushing their teeth and eventually the ability to simply use the bathroom or dress themselves.

People that know me will understand how much I love my hair and how this is the only thing I can do to make a slight difference to lots of peoples lives, people who do not know me then all you need to know is that its a major thing for a woman to do is shave her head!

Please also do not let the fact you may not of heard of the disease or fully understand the effect it has on the individual and thier families determine whether you donate, because trust me it will all go to a very good cause and will help so many people!

The money can help by simply buying a specially made chair for a Huntington's patient so they don't slip of it and hurt themselves, to sending a young carer on a weekend trip to the new forest.
