Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

At the age of 43, what I am up to now....?

MY CHALLENGE

1. Cycle from Worcester (England) - Dublin (Ireland) - Holyhead (Wales) - Worcester (successfully completed in June 2011!)

2. Trek to Everest base camp / Kala Pathar (+ 5,500m) Jan/ Feb 2012

THE REASON

My daughter Milla is 5 years old. She and her sisters Louisa and Jewel were born extremely prematurely 16 weeks early in Liverpool. Unfortunately, Jewel passed away after 2 weeks, while Milla and Louisa battled for 6 months, many operations and setbacks before coming home.

Since then, Louisa has been making good progress. Milla was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition caused by a brain injury that affects muscle control.

She is unable to walk, talk or feed herself and needs 24 hours a day care. She will require life long care and will be in a wheelchair.

I want to raise money for Scope, the UK's leading charity for cerebral palsy, helping them make a difference and improve the quality of life of people like Milla.

SCOPE AND ME

I have raised over £10,000 for charity since 2007. I have cycled from Worcester to Liverpool and back, as well as London and back and climbed Kilimanjaro with Scope.

By taking on these physically and emotionally demanding challenges, I am proud to be able to contribute to the work Scope does.

I know that every painful step and pedal turn is making a positive impact on people's lives - people who will never have the chance to climb stairs, let alone mountains, or cycle to the shops, let alone cycle to Dublin and back.

The Challenge - Explained

1. Three Countries Cycle Challenge - June 2011

The plan is to cycle from Worcester to Pembroke in West Wales, via the Brecon Beacon Mountains. I'm then going to take the ferry to Rosslare in South Ireland and cycle up via the Wicklow Mountains to the capital, Dublin

After crossing the Irish Sea back to the UK, I intend to cycle from Holyhead back to Worcester, passing through Snowdonia National Park (more, yes more, mountains!!!!)

I am going to be joined for the cycling challenge by Oliver Gross from Germany, a former student of mine and by Simon Whitton, an absolute rock who has been with me for every challenge. Simon will be in the car with supplies, support and encouragement and Oliver is cycling with me. My thanks to them.

I have completed this challenge! It was 750km in 6 days. You can read about it on

www.frobiland.blogspot.com

2. Everest Base Camp Trek - with SCOPE - Jan/Feb 2012

I am taking part in SCOPE's Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal and will be trekking at extreme altitude to base camp and then on to Kala Pathar, a 5,600m peak to take in the magnificent views of Everest.

Two extremely tough challenges, but worth every bead of sweat and every aching muscle to help people living with cerebral palsy.

If you can help by donating, thank you - it is really appreciated.

Many thanks,

Tony Frobisher.

Thank You

My wonderful Mum, Donna Frobisher has again worked so hard to raise money for Scope through her annual 'cream tea event'. The amazing people of Peterborough and especially Brookfield / Dukesmead Home Park have helped my Mum raise £515 for Scope. Thank you is not enough. Love you lots Mum.xxxx.

A massive thanks to everyone who helped raise £400 at my Scope Charity Quiz Night. A great evening and lots of fantastic support. A special thanks to Mike Lake of 3 Counties Caravans who has offered us a motorhome for the trip to Dublin and to Paul at the Golden Gourmet for doing the catering...fantastic fish n chips went down a treat. Thanks a lot.

My wonderful friends from every corner of the world. You have continually dug deep and supported me with your generous donations, but also with you words of encouragement.

I only wish we were all closer and could have a huge party to celebrate the completion of each of my charity challenge.

Thank you.
