Staples to Naples Rome! is a banger rally through central Europe. Conceived in 2003, it was designed to address the problem in the amount of time people have to spare. A banger rally is great fun, but many people are unable to take 3 weeks out of their lives to do this for the more exotic rallies. Either work or home commitments make this impossible.

The aim is for a team of 2 - 4 to purchase a car for £100 or less, yes thats right! £100 or less. Lasting 4 days, the event covers around 1500 miles, starting at Staples Corner (junction at the bottom of the M1), although officially at Calais in France, and finishing in Naples, Italy.  Which has now changed to Rome due to the problems in Naples.

Our £100 banger is a Mazda 626 'GLX' which is 19 years old and has been loving painted by the students at Tameside College (http://www.tameside.ac.uk) where Al works, its painted as half US Police car and half Gangster car, complete with bullet holes.

WE MADE IT !

No breakdowns, no drama’s with the law, we just cruised to Rome! Total mileage around 1600 in a car that we bought without seeing for £100, the MOT cost £50 and an indicator lens £10 (apart from the spray job and graphics), that’s all we spent on the car! We bought it, we drove it, no service, no engine rebuilds, Mazda the way to go!
