Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year in April 2011, thanks to your support, I took the Palestine flag to Mt Everest base-camp, raising funds for Darul Fadilah and awareness of the perma-crisis in Palestine.
This year, in February 2012, I summited the peak of Mt Kilimanjaro to raise money for the orphans of Darul Fadilah. Again, the Palestine flag was flying all the way (as you may have seen from the documentary Mount Kilimanjaro - Journey to the Roof of Africa on Islam Channel) It was the most physically demanding challenge I've EVER completed - and I've done a few bi iznillah! It wasn't just the trekking, which itself was hugely tough. Sleeping in tents on the mountain where temperatures at night usually fell to minus 10 and below hugely increased the discomfort.
Insha-Allah the struggle will be worth it when we see Darul Fadilah restored beyond its former glory and the orphans of Darul Fadilah graduate as hufaaz-ul-Quran. So please make a donation and help me reach my target!
Darul Fadilah was a home and school for 500 orphan boys and girls, some as young as 4 and a masjid which catered for over 2000 people and conducted a programme where 4,000 children memorised the Qur’an. It was a training and community centre, providing a valuable service to the thousands of women in the area, and a medical centre which provided primary medical care for the locals and also a library.
In a nutshell, it was a huge asset to the Palestinian community of Rafah and, like so many other things, one that was taken from them by brute force. We want to give it back to them, bigger and better than it was ever before.
Finally, one final, fun incentive to donate. I love my hair. It's long and gorgeous, masha-Allah. Unfortunately not everyone agrees - haters! They want me to shave my head. :-( I want to save it. Save or shave? You decide!
Make a donation and in your message say 'Shave' or 'SAVE' (hint, SAVE). 100% of your donation will go towards rebuilding Darul Fadilah in Rafah, Gaza and sponsoring its orphans. So remember, whether you want to save or shave my hair, you know your donation is worth it! ;)
