We support Royal Marines and their familes to overcome their challenges

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We plan to cycle between the 12 mainland branches of Corps Security, covering the 760 miles within one week, to raise money for Commando Spirit Appeal.

Starting in Stevenage on April 28th, the route takes us through London,  Crawley and Bracknell on Day 1.  Day 2 sees us head west to Bristol and Cardiff, before beginning the trek northeast to Birmingham on day 3.  Manchester and Wakefield await on day 4, then northeast to Newcastle which we should reach on day 5.  Edinburgh is the destination on day 6 before a 'lesiurely' run into Glasgow and the finish line on day 7.

As you are no doubt aware, Commando Spirit is an appeal on behalf of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).  The RMCTF supports Royal Marines when they are deployed on operations, when they are wounded in combat and when recovering from the stresses of the battlefield. The fund continues to support them when they leave the Corps and also provides for the families of those who lose their lives. The Royal Marines face dangers and challenges most people can’t even imagine. Courage and self-reliance in the face of adversity are part of the Commando Spirit. But sometimes, they’re not enough. That’s when they need our help.

This project will be without doubt the toughest challenge I have attempted, as well as the most interactive charity event Corps Security has undertaken so far.  Live GPS tracking will show real time progress along the route, daily blog updates and twitter feeds giving a run down on the day’s events and a co-ordinated programme of local press coverage will serve to raise the profile of the project and Commando Spirit.

We need your support, which can be given in any number of ways:

1. Exposure

TourDeCorps has its own twitter feed (@TourDeCorps) and Facebook page.  These give details of the project and the cause.  Please follow us on twitter and give us valuable retweets where appropriate.  ‘Liking’ us on Facebook will give us exposure to your contacts as well as our own.  I will be posting details on Linked In too – if you use Linked In, please connect with me and ‘like’ my updates, which will again provide added exposure.  Spread the word, and continue spreading it.

2. Come Ride with Us!

We’d love you to come and do a leg or more of the ride with us.  The basic route can be found on the PDF document, so if you are interested, feel you can ride around 100 miles in a day and are prepared to raise some money for the cause, give me a call on 07966 555158 or email rhill@corpssecurity.co.uk

I’m genuinely excited about this project, but it truly needs your support and input in order for it to work.

To get involved, or to get additional information about Le Tour de Corps, please feel free to give me a call  or email me.

3. Donate

Of course, in addition to the above, I’d be very keen to separate you from some of your money in the name of a fantastic cause and to make the saddle sores seem worthwhile, please spare whatever you can.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you!
