Donations cannot currently be made to this page

Tour de Leicestershire · 28 August 2012

It supports charities/organisations/individuals, whose primarily focus is providing sporting/recreational activities for individuals with special needs by reason of age, infirmity or disability, to improve their conditions of life and also locally in areas of social welfare, education, leisure and the protection/development of the environment.

Story

Sam Caves and myself, Steven Harwood, have set ourselves a challenge, after being inspired by the success of Team GB at London 2012, our challenge is to cycle the border of Leicestershire crossing into all 7 bordering counties along the way. That’s Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and finally Northamptonshire, a total of 150 miles in 1 day!

Neither of us are professional cyclists and the max distance we have cycled so far has been a ride to Rutland water (60 miles total) so we have a bit of training to do!

All of the money raised will be going towards The Kilworth Challenge, a local charity to ourselves in which we are part of the team The Bosworth Boys. The Money then goes to 3 beneficiaries.

Dukes Barn – They are an activity centre which provides an adventurous environment  in which people of all ages and abilities can experience exciting activities, meet personal challenges, develop an awareness of the needs of others, and gain a wider appreciation of the natural environment.

Over the Wall – Over the Wall provide camps during the Easter and summer holidays to children who are affected by serious illnesses. They help children to rebuild their confidence and self esteem by encouraging them to take part in a range of activities such as kayaking, climbing, horse riding, archery, arts& crafts, technology and media, as well as a weekly talent show and disco.

Leicester Clubs for Young People – LCYP provide young people with opportunities for physical, creative and social activities. Residential courses are also offered. LCYP aims to provide opportunities for its members to realise their full potential and there by become the responsible citizens of tomorrow.

If you would like to sponsor us using this page, or in person, all sponsorship will be greatly appreciated, and will be going to a very good cause!

And if anyone would like to brave the (hopefully fantastic) weather then it will definitely brighten our mood throughout the day!

Thanks for looking and wish us luck!
