Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

First TransPennine Express (FTPE) has found an abandoned Staffordshire bull terrier puppy whimpering on one of their train services from Liverpool to Scarborough.

Luckily for this cute canine, FTPE’s dedication to customer service doesn’t end with humans!

A flurry of phone calls were made on the dog and bone following her discovery and after a few hours charming the staff at Scarborough Station the pooch was escorted by FTPE conductor Sam Whitehead to York where she was handed over to carers from the charity Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue.

Jake Magson, duty station supervisor, Scarborough, says: “We handle hundreds of lost items every year, and there is some very strange stuff left on our trains. Half of a pair of false teeth wrapped in a napkin was, until recently, the most bizarre item until this cute little puppy appeared.”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue says: “We named the dog Penny after First TransPennine Express. She’s most likely a Christmas present and was very well looked after and loved but the owner obviously couldn’t cope and abandoned her.

“Staffies are the most fun-loving and tolerant dogs in the world and Penny is no exception. She’ll make someone a cracking pet one day.”

Staff at FTPE’s offices at York and Manchester have held a dress down day to raise money for Penny and have raised over £150 to help support and feed Penny for the year ahead.

If you would like to help support Penny and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue this is your opportunity. Any money raised will go towards Penny's food, accommodation and medical costs along with the costs associated with helping to find Penny a new permanent family.

If you think you could offer Penny a loving, stable home contact Chris Clark on 01945474418 or email staffylover@btinternet.com
