Wishing you all good health and happiness in 2010.
Hi,So what is my challenge and why.
The Challenge.
Well anybody who knows me would know that I am not a great one for exercise, I was the one with a friend (you know who you are ! Lig), who did as little as possible during games lessons at school. So the thought of getting up at 6am to walk approx 7 hours a day, hiking up 1000’s of steps would not be described as my idea of fun and is not something I could do with ease. Never the less this is the CHALLENGE I have committed to in September 2010. It will require me over the next 9 months come rain or shine to put on my hiking boots and “get into training” . In September I will be trekking on top of the Great Wall of China snaking up and down through the mountains around Beijing.
Why.
I am undertaking this challenge to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Centre. Cancers affect us all. If we avoid it someone we know will be less fortunate, one in every three people will have some form of cancer in their lifetime. 2 members of my own family have been affected this year alone.
The Yorkshire Cancer Centre is the largest cancer centre in Europe and is aiming to raise much needed funds to enhance its facilities and to ensure that it remains at the leading edge in cancer diagnosis, treatment and care. The Centre is involved in ground breaking clinical research that will lead to new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer helping not just the people of Yorkshire.
My objective is to raise at least £3,000 for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal; I am personally pledging £1,000 therefore I’m already 33% of the way towards my challenge ;-)
Please help me support this worthwhile cause.
My next step is to get myself fit and tell the kids that I’m leaving them alone with dad for two weeks !!
