EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi, a big hello and welcome to my page. Firstly I wanted to say a big thank you for all your kind donations and support.

On June 17th 2012 I began my cycle from Paris to Geneva (345 miles!!) in support of my chosen charity. This cycle gave me the opportunity to climb a Col used frequently in the Tour de France!! very tough !! As some of you are aware I was due to take part in this cycle in Sept this year (2011), unfortunately I had some health issues and had to defer the cycle. I am very pleased to report that I successfully completed the challenge on June 21st ! every mile, every hill and every mountain!!!!

Big thanks to "my team" Chris, Mike & Steve, who were an amazing support. Who supported, encouraged, laughed and inspired me to complete the challenge.

Also big thanks to my brilliant supportive family, whose patience and support has been so vital in my doing this.

To date we have all raised just over £2400 !! for Headway, so again thank you.

As you can see we have reached the required target but as always it is good to exceed it. So who will your money support, and how?

Headway helps brain injury survivors, their families and carers.

£15 - Volunteer expenses for a month

£50 - two family information packs

£210 - run the UK helpline for a day

£500 - campaign posters and leaflets ( initiate activities and campaigns which will reduce the incidence of brain injury)

£1000 - four training courses for survivors of brain injury and their carers - giving training to the people that need it most.

WHY?

Why did I do this? I have always been keen to take part in a physical challenge as well as raise money for a charity. I wanted to do something different from what is my day-to-day life. I also wanted to give time and energy to a charity away from my professional life. I chose Headway as a way of giving my thoughts and love to my brother-in-law and his family. Out of respect for him and his family this will be the only mention.

Also thank you to all who came to the SKA gig, it was a great night.
